Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 10, 2026
Updated September 10, 2026: we rewrote this Policy to describe our apps, our service providers and your choices more clearly. It does not expand how we use your information. Questions: privacy@skipifi.com.
Skipifi LLC ("Skipifi", "we", "us", "our") makes the Skipifi apps for phones and TVs and the website at https://skipifi.com (together, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Services, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. Please read it carefully. If you do not agree with our practices, please contact us or stop using the Services. Our Terms of Use govern your use of the Services.
In short: we collect your account details, your subscription status, how you use the app, information about your device, and crash reports. We use them to run and improve the Services, keep them secure, and understand whether our own advertising works. We do not sell personal information, we do not show other companies' ads in our apps, and we do not share your information for other companies' advertising. Providers such as cloud, analytics, sign-in, app store and email services process information on our behalf.
1. Who we are
Skipifi LLC is a limited liability company formed in California, USA. We are responsible for (the "controller" of) the personal information described in this Policy.
Skipifi LLC, 1043 Garland Ave Unit C #1337, San Jose, CA 95126, USA — privacy@skipifi.com
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address (or the private relay address Apple provides if you hide your email), the sign-in method you use, an account identifier, and your settings and preferences.
Subscription and purchase information. Your plan, subscription status and dates, the store region, and the transaction identifiers Apple or Google assign to your purchase. Apple and Google process payments; we never receive your card details.
Usage information. How you use the Services: the features you use, your filter settings, the titles you look up or filter and the skip and mute activity for them, ratings you give, whether a TV is paired, and the approximate country derived from your IP address (used to show which streaming services offer a title in your region). This information is linked to your account.
Device and technical information. Device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, IP address, identifiers that our service providers assign to your app installation, and the connection details needed to reach the Skipifi TV app on your local network. We do not collect the advertising identifier of your device.
Crash and diagnostic information. Crash reports, error logs, performance data and the state of the app and device at the time of an error.
Content you submit. Ratings, comments, feedback, bug reports, support messages, and survey answers you choose to give.
Camera. If you pair by scanning the QR code shown on your TV, the camera is used only on your device to read that code. No images are stored or sent to us.
Website information. Messages you send through our contact form, newsletter sign-ups, reviews you post, and information collected by cookies as described in section 6.
Information from sign-in providers. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they send us your name and email address (or a relay address). Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos or messages.
To create an account you need to give us a name and an email address, or sign in with Apple or Google; without them we cannot provide the Services. Everything else is either optional or collected automatically as described above.
3. How we use information, and why we are allowed to
We use personal information for the purposes below. Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, it is shown for each purpose.
- Provide the Services — creating and securing your account, pairing your phone and TV, applying your filter settings, checking your subscription. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Improve the Services — understanding which features are used, fixing problems, planning new features. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the Services.
- Keep the Services reliable and secure — crash reports, preventing fraud and abuse, verifying that requests come from a genuine copy of our app. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in security and reliability.
- Communicate with you — service messages about your account or subscription; newsletters and offers, which you can opt out of at any time. Legal basis: our contract with you for service messages; for marketing, our legitimate interest in telling you about Skipifi, or your consent where the law requires it.
- Advertise Skipifi — measuring whether our own advertising leads to installs, sign-ups and subscriptions and, where possible, avoiding showing our ads to people who already subscribe. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in promoting the Services, or your consent where the law requires it.
- Meet legal obligations and protect our rights — keeping records, responding to lawful requests, handling disputes. Legal basis: legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in protecting our rights.
We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. Our filtering is applied to movies and shows, not to you.
4. Advertising and how we measure it
We advertise Skipifi on platforms such as Google Ads. To understand whether those ads work, our apps report app events such as installs, sign-ups and subscription starts to the advertising platform's measurement tools, using privacy-preserving methods such as Apple's SKAdNetwork and aggregated or modelled reporting. This tells us which of our campaigns are working. We do not collect the advertising identifier of your device, we do not show other companies' ads in our apps, we do not sell personal information, and we do not share your information for other companies' advertising. You can object to this measurement at any time (section 8).
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as described here. Our service providers process information on our instructions, under contracts that require them to protect it to at least the standard described in this Policy.
- Cloud infrastructure and databases, which host the Services and store your account.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the Services are used. To learn how Google collects and processes data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- Crash reporting and error monitoring providers, which receive crash and diagnostic information.
- Sign-in providers: Apple and Google, when you choose to sign in with them.
- App stores and payment providers: Apple and Google, which handle purchases and subscriptions.
- Email delivery providers, which send our messages to you.
- Content information providers. Title details and artwork come from The Movie Database (TMDB). Artwork loads from TMDB's servers, so TMDB may receive your IP address.
- Advertising platforms, for the measurement described in section 4.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property or safety of Skipifi, our users or others.
- Business transfers. If Skipifi is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this Policy will continue to apply.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
In our apps, our software and our providers' software store small amounts of information on your device to keep you signed in, remember your settings, measure usage and report crashes. None of it uses your device's advertising identifier.
On our website, we use cookies for the site to work and, where you allow it, to measure how the site is used. Where the law requires it, we ask for your permission through a banner before setting non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of skipifi.com or your browser settings.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, and then delete or anonymise it. In general:
- Account, settings, ratings and content you submit: until you delete your account, after which they are deleted from our active systems.
- Subscription and transaction records: as long as required for tax, accounting and dispute purposes — generally up to seven years after the last transaction.
- Usage analytics: no more than 14 months in identifiable form.
- Crash and diagnostic reports and error logs: generally no more than 90 days.
- Server and email delivery logs: generally no more than 90 days.
- Support and contact messages: for as long as needed to handle your request, and a reasonable period afterwards.
Copies may remain in backups for up to about six weeks after deletion, and we may keep information longer where the law requires or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
8. Your choices and your right to object
You have the right to object at any time to our use of your personal information based on our legitimate interests — including analytics, advertising measurement and marketing. To do so, email privacy@skipifi.com. We will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests. We will always stop using your information for marketing if you ask.
- Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or offer. Service messages about your account will continue while you have an account.
- Delete your account: see section 12.
- Device permissions: you can withdraw camera or local network access at any time in your device settings. Without local network access, the app cannot find your TV.
9. Your privacy rights
Everyone can ask us to access, correct or delete their personal information by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You have the right to access your personal information; to have it corrected or erased; to restrict or object to its processing (section 8); to receive it in a portable format; to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent, without affecting processing before withdrawal; and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Where we rely on legitimate interests, they are described in section 3.
California and other US states. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and share; to delete it; to correct it; and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by those laws. You may use an authorised agent to make a request; we will verify your identity and the agent's authority.
Other regions. You may have similar rights under the laws of your country. Contact us and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
To exercise any right, email privacy@skipifi.com. We will verify your request, usually by confirming the email address on your account, and respond within the time the law allows. If you cannot access this Policy because of a disability, contact us and we will provide it in an accessible format.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from those in your country. Where we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on safeguards recognised by those laws, such as standard contractual clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum in our providers' data processing terms. Skipifi is not certified under the EU-US or UK-US Data Privacy Framework. Contact us for more information about these safeguards.
11. Security
We protect personal information with technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring, and we require our providers to do the same. No system is completely secure, so please keep your password confidential and tell us immediately at privacy@skipifi.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
12. Deleting your account
- iPhone app: open Settings and choose Delete Account. The same option is available on the subscription screen if you have not subscribed.
- Android, Android TV and Google TV: visit skipifi.com/contact-us and choose "Delete my account & data", or email privacy@skipifi.com from the address on your account.
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, settings, ratings and other personal information linked to your account from our active systems. Analytics, crash and transaction records are kept only for the periods described in section 7. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and continue until you cancel them in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; please cancel before deleting your account.
13. Children and young people
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a minor where you live, you may use the Services only with the permission of a parent or guardian. We do not profile users or target advertising to them, we apply high-privacy defaults, and we take into account laws and codes protecting young people online, including the UK Children's Code, where they apply. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, or you are a parent or guardian with questions, contact privacy@skipifi.com and we will act promptly.
14. Third-party services and links
The Services work alongside streaming services and your Apple or Google account, and the website links to other sites. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. We are not responsible for their practices.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on our website or in the app for at least 30 days before the changes take effect, or notify you by email. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acknowledgement of the updated Policy.
